Global Debate

During the Open Session held in Verona, keynotes and presentations outlined the technological and geopolitical context for the anticipated return to nuclear energy.
Debate was also sparked remotely, welcoming questions raised from abroad by Nuecir community members.

Key Questions

See how a key question was formulated in a video received from Dr. Gérald Santucci, President of the European Education New Society Association (ENSA), formerly at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT), as Head of the Unit for ‘Knowledge Sharing’, ‘Networked Enterprise & RFID’, ‘Trust & Security’, and ‘eGovernment’:

"Can the nuclear power industry achieve circular economy goals?"

Expert Answers

See how a key question was answered for instance by Mario Mariani, full professor at the Politecnico di Milano University and the Enrico Fermi Nuclear Research Center, who prepared his presentation materials in English for the international audience and furthermore shared a full recorded version in Italian for the guests attending in Verona:

NCC Take-Off Event

Meet the NCC's new COO
On the evening of October 8, select guests gathered for a private reception to mark the launch of Nuecir’s Fall 2025 activities, where they had the opportunity to meet the newly appointed COO of the Nuecir Competence Center.

A fighter pilot as testimonial: Seppo

Formerly a fighter pilot and leader of Finland’s Midnight Hawks aerobatic team for six years, Seppo has joined the Nuecir Competence Center to support the third phase of the ongoing renovation project aimed at upgrading and expanding the building designated in 2024 as the latest official Nuecir Exchange location.

Music under the stars
The NCC Take-Off Event featured a virtuoso performance by a rising star violinist, concertmaster of a renowned orchestra in Florence, who captivated the audience with interpretations of works by Bach and Paganini.

Exchange 'on land and sea'

The Nuecir Exchange Program reopened its doors in fall 2025 on October 9, with personalized one-to-one meeting agendas, once again bringing together members of the Nuecir community for a dynamic blend of land-based and on-water activities:

Second annual edition of Nuecir's program for networing in the fast lane:

'On land', participants engaged with visionary minds from the artificial intelligence and nuclear sectors, alongside policymakers and geopolitical experts, through conference sessions and personalized one-on-one meeting agendas. The Nuecir Exchange program was officially inaugurated with an exclusive reception for speakers and key guests.

'At sea', exclusive networking sessions unfolded aboard a ferry—continuing the spirit of last year’s event, when a cruise ship in the Ligurian Sea served as a mobile example of a smart city. This year, the backdrop for dialogue was Europe’s largest lake, with the ferry moving from town to town, and from one question to the next.

Focus of the debate

Back to the Atom in the Digital Age

As AI, the Internet of Things, 5G and electric mobility reshape modern life, their soaring energy demands call for cleaner, scalable, and more reliable power. Nuecir's think tank will explore nuclear energy’s renewed role as a cornerstone of the digital age. With energy sovereignty and sustainability now global imperatives, the energy distribution infrastructure must evolve—and the nuclear sector must transcend traditional power generation to embrace Circular Economy (CE) principles: managing waste, reducing and recycling materials, and ultimately minimizing environmental impact.

As we progress through Nuecir's fall appointments, experts will share their vision of the current outlook of the AI revolution, as well as of research in nuclear fusion and fission, spotlighting breakthrough innovations and exploring how digital transformation and nuclear circularity can converge to build a resilient, low-carbon future, unlocking emerging “blue markets” that are still taking shape. Attendees will gain insights into the strategic, technological, and ecological dimensions of a possible nuclear renaissance—and the new opportunities this transformation presents for the security and identification industry.
